Our cardiac rehabilitation program is comprised of Phase 2 and Phase 3 classes. The Phase 2 program is a medically supervised program targeting those individuals with acute cardiac pathology including stable angina or myocardial infarction (heart attack), or recent cardiac surgery (bypass surgery, stent placement, or angioplasty). Treatment is supervised by a physician and includes telemetry-monitored exercise to improve cardiac function as well as education to reduce cardiac risk factors and promote a healthy lifestyle. At the completion of this 12-week program, patients are encouraged to move into the Phase 3 wellness program which is aimed at maintaining optimal cardiac function and a healthier lifestyle through the continuation of regular exercise. Phase 3 classes also offer a peer support system for participants.
Cardiac exercise stress testing is also offered through the cardiac rehabilitation department and is performed under the supervision of the referring physician.
